Mobile Aviation with Flight Stream 510

Pilot flying the plane

Two of the most popular enhancements in the mobile aviation industry is the Flight Stream 510, which is a Bluetooth link that lets pilots connect their mobile device or tablet to the panel. Setting it up is easy, and whether you’re trying out a tour flight in Park city or a tour flight in Provo, your flying experience will become a lot more immersive!

Here’s how you can set up Flight Stream.

Setting Up Flight Stream

Flight Stream is considerably intuitive for a single pilot’s operations. It is a blind-mounted box that also sends GPS signals, traffic from the panel, and datalink weather from the panel to your iPad. Connecting your iPad to Flight Stream is simple. You’ll just have to enable the pairing option on the panel, and then you’ll have to go to the settings on your iPad and click on Flight Stream in the Bluetooth option.

Once you’re done with the initial setup, both devices should pair automatically. You can also connect two different iPads to Flight Stream.

GPS and AHRS

It’s also worth noting that Flight Stream also has an Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS), which provides a backup attitude straight to your iPad. Tap the attitude indicator symbol on the top of the maps and you will see a split-screen. Moreover, it will supply pressure altitude information and the GPS position from the panel straight to your iPad.

You can also evaluate the status of the flight by tapping on the settings on the top left of the screen. From there, you will see the GPS source and several other options.
