New Years Resolutions For Pilots

A+ A- A

Mans torso with suit coat2018 has arrived and many people are beginning to set New Year’s resolutions. Here at Elevate Aviation, we believe that, as a pilot, there are 5 resolutions you should make for the new year!

5 Resolutions For Pilots

Below are 5 of the best resolutions for pilots:

  1. Fly – While this one seems like an obvious goal, there are actually a few things that can potentially keep pilots out of the cockpit. The main problem is probably cost. Rental fees, fuel, and other things related to piloting can add up quickly. Luckily there are ways to save money and fly at the same time. For more information on reducing the cost of flying, please visit https://www.aopa.org/go-fly/aircraft-and-ownership/buying-an-aircraft/reducing-the-cost-of-flying.
  2. Study – This may sound morbid, but it’s a good idea to read the National Transportation Safety Board accident investigation reports. This can help you to be a better, more cautious pilot. Keep a log of lessons you’ve learned while reading through these reports and make sure to read through it regularly.
  3. Train – Use a simulator to train yourself for various in-flight emergencies. It’s important to make any mistakes on a simulator instead of an actual aircraft! Learn as much as you can about handling emergencies and your confidence in your own skills will increase substantially.
  4. Airshow – We believe that pilots should attend airshows as often as possible! It can serve as a great motivational tool as well as a chance to share an experience with other pilots. Take your family and enjoy an airshow this year!
  5. New Challenges  – Strive to find something new you want to try in the sky. Research it thoroughly, discuss it with a Certified Flight Instructor and give it a try. You’ll never reach your goals as a pilot if you’re not comfortable expanding your horizons (literally and figuratively).

2018 is going to be a great year! Here at Elevate Aviation, we’re here to help you set your New Years pilot resolutions and make them a reality! To contact us, please call our Salt Lake City location today.
